We are not a faceless corporation. Backroads WiFi was founded by Robert and Summer Lemoine, lifelong residents of Union Parish, Louisiana, who got tired of choosing between country living and a connection that actually works.
Our Story
A long history without a long lifespan
Our seeds were planted by Robert and Summer Lemoine on their wedding day in October of 2005. We are lifelong residents of Union Parish and have lived at the same address since the beginning, enjoying the simple country life: the limited neighbors, the amazing sunrises, and sitting on the porch with a glass of sweet tea at sunset.
As wonderful as the days were, one thing was missing. Internet. We tried satellite, we hot-spotted our phones to watch TV, and you know how that goes. We needed something more stable, more affordable, and just plain worth the money.
Having been in the prepaid cell phone business since 2016, we had made contacts across the telecommunications industry. So in the spring of 2021 we started the hunt. After clearing a long list of obstacles and testing solution after solution over many months, we partnered with the right people and brought affordable, stable internet to folks living out in the sticks all across America.
Our home sits several miles outside Marion, Louisiana, near Bayou D’Loutre, deep on the backroads where the cable and fiber companies never bothered to go. Backroads WiFi powers our streaming, gaming, remote work, and everyday life. We do not just sell this service. We use it daily.

Summer and Robert have personally traveled to and through more than 30 states testing our internet with an inverter plugged into the cigarette lighter of our SUV. From Louisiana to Connecticut and back, and over to California, we drove with our family and had internet the whole way.

April 2022: Backroads WiFi officially launches across rural America.

The Meltdown opens in Farmerville, LA, serving snow cones to visitors of Lake D’Arbonne and giving the Lemoine kids a hands-on lesson in running a business.
