Choosing the Right Network for Your Area

Blue, Red, or Magenta? The network that performs best depends on where you live. Here is how to figure out which one is right for you.

Cellular networks do not perform the same everywhere. The carrier that gives your neighbor blazing speed might be weak at your place a few miles down the road. That is why Backroads WiFi lets you choose the network your plan rides on, instead of locking you into one.

Start with the phone in your pocket

The simplest test is the one you already have. Think about which major carrier gives you the strongest, most reliable signal at home. If your phone streams video and makes clear calls on a particular network at your house, our equipment on that same network will very likely perform well too.

Our three networks

We brand our plans by color so you can pick based on coverage, not marketing.

  • Blue rides the nationwide network with the broadest rural reach in many areas.
  • Red is often the strongest choice in parts of the country with dense tower coverage.
  • Magenta can deliver excellent value and speed where its towers are close by.

When you are not sure

If you do not know which carrier works best at your address, that is completely normal, and we are happy to help. Tell us where you are and which networks your phones use, and we will point you to the device most likely to deliver strong, stable speed.

You are not stuck

Because you own your equipment and there are no contracts, you are never trapped on a network that underperforms. We would rather get you on the right one from the start.
