Every family around here has a place they go when the leaves turn. For some of us it's a deer stand on the back forty. For others it's a little camp on Lake D'Arbonne where the crappie bite picks up as the water cools. Thanksgiving week is when the whole crew shows up, and it's also when somebody asks, "Is there any internet out here?"
Quick answer
If your phone gets a signal at your camp, there's a good chance Backroads WiFi can get you connected there too. It's cellular internet with no contracts, no satellite and no credit check, and the equipment ships to your door ready to plug in. Plans start at $70 a month. You can check coverage at your address or call or text (318) 381-9449 and talk to a real person.
Why the camp needs internet now
It used to be that going to camp meant going dark, and some folks still like it that way. But the world has changed. Kids have schoolwork over the break. Somebody has to keep an eye on the house cameras back home. Grandpa wants to watch the LSU game, and Mama wants to video call the cousins who couldn't make the drive.
A connection at the camp doesn't take away from the quiet. It just means you don't have to leave early to take care of things.
Plug in and go
There's no technician to wait on and no dish to mount. When the equipment shows up, you plug it in, connect your phones, TVs and cameras, and you're done. If you have a generator or solar setup at the camp, that works too, as long as it can keep the equipment powered.
Dress the part
While you're getting the camp ready, our family's other business, Forever And Always Boutique in Farmerville, has a whole line of Lake D'Arbonne fishing shirts with KJV verses on them. Read about them in Lake D'Arbonne Shirts for the Boat, the Camp and Back Home. If you're already thinking about Christmas, they also wrote up their Christmas Christian shirts for the whole family. Those shirts are printed to order, so give them a little extra time before the holidays.
Give thanks where you are
Whether you spend the week in a deer stand, a bass boat or around the supper table, take a minute to be thankful for the folks sitting next to you.
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." Psalm 100:4 (KJV)
